Epsom Post Office
The sudden closure of the Epsom town centre post office in January came as surprise to residents and was a major loss to the town centre causing a great deal of inconvenience to many people. Residents’ Association borough councillors made an offer to the Post Office to house a post office in the Town Hall on a temporary basis, and as soon as the Post Office had found a postmaster/postmistress and completed the necessary contractual arrangements. Six months on, and after the Post Office had completed its procedures, a new temporary post office opened in the Town Hall on 20 th July.
The opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm and all the major services are provided from three modern full-screened counters. Customers can do everything from cash withdrawals from a Post Office Card Account, car tax renewal, send funds abroad using Moneygram, pay bills, buy holiday money, get insurance, mortgages, savings and top up mobile phones. Customers can also access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including international parcels, Special Delivery, Local Collect and home shopping returns. Michael Brennan, Post Office Area Manager, said:
“We have been working hard to try to restore Post Office services to central Epsom as quickly as possible as the previous branch closed at short notice for reasons beyond our control. The community will join us in welcoming the re-opening of the branch. We are very appreciative of Epsom & Ewell Borough Council making premises available for Post Office use.”
