A new Surrey Waste Partnership fly-tipping campaign launches on 1 August and runs until 30 September. The campaign urges Surrey residents and businesses to be vigilant when employing traders to dispose of their waste or risk fines of up to £400.
Although a rogue trader may fly-tip the waste, whoever employs them can also be fined. To avoid prosecution, residents and businesses must use a registered waste carrier, ask where they intend to dispose of the waste and get a receipt.
Fly-tippers can be fined up to £50,000 and be jailed for up to 12 months. For more information visit the Recycle for Surrey website.
