New Surrey County Council Traffic Enforcement Contract

This week SCC announced a seven-year contract worth £96.5 million, with private company Marston Holdings Ltd, for parking and traffic enforcement.  In April, SCC will be centralising parking enforcement, a service which currently is managed by Surrey’s Borough and District on behalf of the County. The accompanying comments to the announcement, made by the Kevin Deanus, Cabinet member for Highways and Community Resilience, promise much.  But residents need to be aware, SCC does not have Read more…

However there is an opportunity to challenge the ruling and, jointly with other councils, the Borough Council will argue its case in the High Court. Meanwhile, if required to remove an unauthorised encampment the Borough Council will revert to using the Read more…

Fact Checking

In an extraordinary claim, two Epsom based Conservative Surrey County Councillors stated in a political leaflet distributed to residents in November that the long queues to access SCC’s Community Recycling Centre was not the fault of SCC at all, but of Epsom and Ewell Borough Council’s weekly recycling service and the Borough’s residents who were not filling up their bins, but taking material to the CRC! The fact that residents recycle a great deal at Read more…
