Entry into the Bradford Drive Estate
Many residents who live in the Bradford Drive estate (off the A240 Kingston Road) will have witnessed at least one driver turning left into the estate at the traffic lights. Of course the entry into Bradford Drive is via the slip road just before those traffic lights, and the traffic lights are for exiting the estate only. There are no recorded accidents at this exit, but this is largely down to the alertness of those driving out on to the A240.
I have been asked to arrange for improved road signs along the A240. A large green sign is currently in place situated before the railway bridge but it is not as clear in its road indication as it might be. It is also too near the bus stop which can mean it is missed by drivers, and at times it becomes concealed by overhanging tree branches.
I am pleased to say that I have been able to persuade Surrey Highways to replace the sign with a new one which will be situated slightly further along the road before the railway bridge and which should be much clearer to drivers. Surrey Highways have also agreed to install a smaller and specially designed sign at the entry point of the slip road into Bradford Drive.
Hopefully these two new signs will indicate the exit off the A240 and entrance into Bradford Drive with much greater clarity. However drivers will still need to take care, not least because not even Surrey Highways can put in measures to design away bad driving.
