SCC has taken a decision to move to a county-wide service for carers to be funded by cutting the funding of nine local carer support groups including Carers of Epsom, which has been supporting carers in E&E since 1988. As a result of that cut in funding Carers of Epsom and the other local providers will close. I have called for the decision to be scrutinised by SCC’s Social Care Scrutiny Board to ensure that the new plans and the closure of Carers of Epsom will not adversely affect the excellent service currently given to local carers.

Should you be interested in learning more about the issue, feel free to visit the Wellbeing and Health Scrutiny Board on the 10th of December, in the Ashcombe Suite County Hall Penrhyn Road Kingston upon Thames KT1 2DN.
